CAN ANYONE GET RICH? THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON PART 1

The question seems absurd but sometimes it seems that the gulf that separates the beggar from the filthy rich is akin to that between the Rich man and Lazarus in the afterlife (Luke 16:26) and one one may wonder if everyone has the capacity to become rich.

Some believe it is only by inheritance, or chance or hard work. Most of the people have the desire to become rich ( not even exceedingly rich in most instances but just want the mere capacity of leaving beyond the paycheck, enjoy the good things of life, and have a secure income in case of crisis).

But this wish is not enough because gold(when I say gold think money) like many other things in life do not obey wishful thinking but they are systems at play to which a man must align to is he/she wants to get rich. Sometimes the problem is not laziness but lack of knowledge. This book takes us back to ancient Babylon one the richest cities in the world, even the bible portrays it as the golden. Religiously of course it has many negative things about it but let us just focus on what we can learn and throw the rest and don’t worry the book just focuses on the wisdom.

I took notes about 70 points I think and I will be sharing what I can.

1. MAKE SURE 10% OF WHAT YOU EARN IS YOURS TO KEEP

This is the hallmark of the book because it is the starting point. The thing is if we spend all the money we receive or earn we are just giving to other people and we ourselves are not profiting from our resources. It is a reasonable amount just like tithing. In most cases you just need to deprive yourself of some unnecessary pleasures and you are good to go. With time I sincerely believe that you will discover that you can actually do even more. And as usual set yourself realistic challenges; challenges yet attainable>

2. LEARN TO LIVE ON LESS THAN YOU EARN BY BUDGETING

Most of the times fail to save anything because they want to live using more gold than which they earn. That is just a formula for never ending debts and in times of crisis there is nowhere to run. The remedy is budgeting, as painful as it can be because most cases you discover that you don’t have as much money as you think. But that way you specify your need, wants and pleasure. It is not a formula for stinginess but better organisation. In my experience when you don’t budget you can sometimes don’t default to debt but you won’t be able to save,

3. MAKE YOUR TREASURES WORK FOR YOU

Saving is good but what is better is making your money work for you thereby making money. Money in a closet will not multiply and prices of things keep on going up so to shield your treasure from depreciation by investing it into something. In modern times it can be a savings account, it can be a business, it can be company shares

4. SEEK ADVICE FROM THE RIGHT PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE

We are oftentimes to excited about our savings and cannot wait to multiply them them ten times. Sometimes we throw caution to the wind and forget that we are not skilled in certain things. We need advice and advice from the right people depending our desired area of investment. Seek people with experience not philosophers or theoretical people. Brick makers do not have much knowledge about jewels. Analyse situations critically also, we are in a period with a lot of scammers. In the event you loose your saving, restart gain and me more prudent. Savings are precious so protect them.

5. INCREASE CAPACITY TO EARN

Invest in yourself to be able to earn more. Knowledge is underrated but applied rightly it can be transformed to wealth. Improve your skills by learning from experts, learn about entrepreneurship, business, investments. Upgrade even your studies when possible but that way you are positioning yourself to take advantage of opportunities that may present themselves.

6. MEDITATE ON THE PRINCIPLES YOU WANT TO IMPLEMENT AND PROCLAIM

The bible says as he thinks in his heart so is he (Proverbs 23:7). Don’t just think about spending all the time. I heard someone say when you control your thoughts you keep in check your emotions because it your emotions which determine how you act.

7. CHOOSE INTEGRITY BY SOME PRINCIPLES

As a man strive to( this is a family man)

-Pay your debts with promptness

-Take care of the family

-Make a will in case God calls you

-Have compassion on the unfortunate, injured or hurt and aid them within reasonable limits

So in this segment we see that anyone can get rich provided they yield themselves to principle which govern the flow of gold.
