I pretty much liked the first book and I feel like it ended where it needed to end with an open ending which I really liked because the story is somehow based on true events.

I am avoiding it but basically this book has somehow been written like it is a tutorial and how to navigate the murky waters of post divorce after being in an abusive relationship and the many factors that will influence that process.

Nevertheless the book has equally some nuggets especially on the psychological front of anger management and which you might as well extend to other psychological disorders which stem from the atrocities you might have been through in the past.

No matter how awful the cause of the disorder you somehow end up being responsible for your actions anyhow especially if you decide to engage in intimate relationships and long term friendships. People alright will feel pity for you but once your actions tends to get in the way of their happiness then you just have to sulk it up and find your way through or they will leave you(or isolate you whichever is convenient).

This is because in as much they love you they are not responsible for your past and if gets in the way of their happiness and deprives them of peace they will leave as this is the chief aim of most people despite it being formulated in many ways and forms such that you think have different motivational instincts to pursue the things that they do. Made think of an essay by MARK TWAIN titled MAN THE MACHINE which I have to finish reading.

Another thing is there is somehow lack of character development in the book which makes it quite predictable if you read the first book then you are pretty sure to guess how everyone will behaves except when they psychos refuse to cry or just walk away refusing to be weak or better people. There is a bit of a twist about the identity of Josh but that as good as it gets and the answer to that is unfortunately given very early on in the book and Theo’s jokes are just the best.

Leftist themes(LGBTQ & consent) eventually sneak their way through the book which is not surprise for a young adult novel published in 2022.

All in all its it a good epilogue to the first book and I hope all her fans who petitioned her to write it are happy….

Hope you enjoyed your October

Until the next one
